WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW IN WOLVERINE COUNTRY…
TAYLOR LUDWIG AND ERIK SWALANDER
Taylor Ludwig, a second team all-league tackle, will be heading to Santa Barbara City college to play football in the Fall of 2016. Taylor has continued to work in the weight room over the winter and spring. He has increased his size and strength as he is just 5 pounds shy of 1000 pound club. Ludwig is 6′ 3 and 250 pounds, Santa Barbara is happy to get a commitment from Taylor. We all wish him the best of luck as he continues his playing career and looks to get a scholarship to a D1 or D2 school in the coming years!
Erik Swalander is heading to Chapman University on an Academic Scholarship. He will also be playing football this fall for Chapman. Erik is a great example of why kids need to keep up their grades and work in the classroom as hard as they work on the field. It is his grades that will allow him to continue his playing career. Erik was a 1st team all league guard for Truckee and second team All-State. He will be missed and we wish him luck.
2015 ERIK SWALANDER
Erik entered into a very coveted group in the winter of 2015. He became a member of the 1,000 Pound Club, which is the total weight lifted for Squat, Clean, and Bench Press. Erik totaled out at 460 pounds on squat, 310 pounds on Clean, and a 290 pound bench press. Most students don’t accomplish this until their senior year but Erik did it as a junior…one of few to do it. Swalander is an excellent student at Truckee carrying a 3.6 grade point average. He also was elected Captain of the football team by his peers this past Fall as a junior and will be looked to this coming Fall. Erik is currently in his second year of Lacrosse playing defense for the Wolverines.
Thor was voted in by his peers as a Captain for the 2013 season. He was a true leader and put the team on his back through some of the toughest moments this past fall for the Truckee Football team. He had 2 games this fall where he recorded 17 tackles. He was also a play maker on Offense averaging 21 yards per reception. He took home Truckee”s Defensive MVP award at the end of the year banquet. Thor was selected to First Team All-League as a Free-Safety. He ended the year with 82 tackles and did this in just 5 1/2 games as he was injured in the 3rd Quarter of the Fernley game. Thor recently was selected as a First Team All-State Free-Safety. In November Thor was honored with the highest rank in the Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Thor will attend Lewis and Clark on an academic scholarship in the fall of 2014. Unfortunately Thor reinsured his shoulder in his first football season at Lewis and Clark. He had a successful surgery and is looking forward to starting on defense this upcoming Fall.
